Digital transformation and economic ecosystems have a vital role in building the world's largest economy. It was conveyed by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) R.I. H. Erick Thohir, BA., M.B.A. to the new students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). He had the opportunity to fill the Student Day Talkshow agenda, which discussed Digital Transformation on Saturday (15/1) at UMM Dome. Also present were Deputy Regent of Malang Didik Gatoto Subroto, S.H., M.H., and Director of Lippo Plaza Batu Suwanto. The Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, S.H., M. IP, participated in filling out the online agenda.
Erick continued that Indonesia's target in 2025 is to become the fourth-largest economy in the world. But that dream will only be a dream if we don't work on it well, especially in the economic aspect. Of course, there will be many challenges that must be won to achieve that dream.
He said that the economy would not only focus on Natural Resources anymore in the next few years. However, it will focus on the human ability to manage the economy and create jobs to encourage the country's economy to be more advanced. Therefore, in the digital era like now, it is necessary to have Human Resources (H.R.) capabilities in the digital field.
"We have to prepare 17.5 million workers who have the ability in the digital field so they can win the competition with other countries. So, the main points are the development of digital infrastructure and the formation of a good ecosystem in managing natural resources. Therefore, national economic development can run smoothly," he said.
According to Erick, many natural resources are currently sent abroad at low prices. Then the management is also carried out by foreign countries. Of course, this is detrimental to Indonesia. "Don't be a lying and consumptive generation. Be a productive generation so that they can compete with other nations," he said.

Meanwhile, Ganjar assesses the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to be necessary. Unfortunately, only a small number of them use digital facilities. So, he encourages students to go directly to the community to seek a business transition to digitalization.
"I think digitalization must be able to enter villages so that MSMEs can survive in this increasingly large digital flow. There are many benefits of the digitization process that can be felt, especially online payments, which are felt to be able to reduce corruption rates," he explained.

He also wants students to come down to answer the problems in the community, likewise, by initiating collaborative activities so that issues with marketing, capital, business permits, and other things can find a way out. Network development also needs to be improved to encourage digital payments and systems.
On the other hand, UMM Rector Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. explained that the slogan Student Today Leader Tomorrow made White Campus focus on the educational process in two ways, academic competence, and leadership. "And the Student Day agenda is one of the efforts to build strong leadership. Especially through various student activities, organizations, and interesting agendas," he explained.
Fauzan also explained UMM's breakthrough to prepare independent graduates, namely the Center of Excellence (CoE). Some of them are schools of shrimp, poultry, orchids, seaweed, welding inspectors, and others. White Campus also continues to identify the development of digital aspects so that UMM students are not left behind with the digital skills that are now needed. (cdr/wil)
