The rapid development of the digital aspect gave rise to many new habits, new potential, to new sports. One of them is e-Sport activities (games). Accompanied by the Covid-19 pandemic, which requires all activities to be online, the growth of the e-sport aspect has accelerated. Many tournaments have sprung up, ranging from regional to international levels. Seeing this, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) established and inaugurated an e-Sport-based Student Activity Unit (UKM), namely UMM E-Sport.
Nizar Muttaqin as, chairman of UMM E-Sport, said that before officially becoming a UKM, UMM E-Sport was in the form of a Mobile Legend (ML) game community since 2019. Due to the high interest and enthusiasm of the students, they finally discussed with the campus until the SMEs arrived. Meanwhile, UMM S-sport was only inaugurated last February. Interestingly, even though it started with the Mobile Legend game, it has expanded its divisions. One of them is the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) division.
"After officially becoming a UKM, we expanded to another game, namely PUBG, so that we could reach many other students. After all, we can develop many other competitive games," he added.

Nizar explained further that they had carried out a series of activities as he called. He starts with procuring tournaments, fun matches, and open recruitment. UMM E-Sport has collaborated a lot, especially for games, both from internal UMM such as BEM and externally.
This student from Surabaya said that there are two types of divisions in related UKM. Among them are the Pro-Scene Division and the Game Division. The pro-scene division focuses on preparing athletes who will be contested to represent UMM in tournaments or competitions. Meanwhile, the game division is more about match preparation and plan.
There is also an exercise routine that is always done. The intensity will increase as it approaches the championship. However, if it is in the form of lectures, the UMM E-Sport UKM will prioritize lessons first.

This class of 2018 informatics student hopes that UMM E-Sport can regenerate well and continue in the future. Likewise, the game world ecosystem is expected to improve and be productive to give birth to e-sport athletes who are proud and make the name of the White Campus proud.
"Hopefully, we want UMM E-Sport athletes who can make UMM proud in regional and international championships," he said. (apg/haq/wil)
