Proud news comes again from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This time, it came from Prof. Dr. Ir. Elfi Anis Saati, MP., whose rose drink work won 1st prize in the creative product competition of Pasuruan Regency. The contest, held on April 16, 2023, was followed by hundreds of participants with unique products. Meanwhile, several clusters contested were craft, fashion, culinary, and fine arts.
About this accolade, the woman known as Elfi mentioned that three aspects of the product were graded: its narrative content, history and successful stories, and presentation method while presenting the creation. The participants were demanded to be more informative, communicative, interactive, and attractive.
“The judges attending are the representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Economy Center, and also Pasuruan Regency. Alhamdulillah, this rose drink successfully obtained the 1st rank in this creative product competition,” added the lecturer.

Furtherly explaining, this Elviza drink began from her research in 2002 about pigment. Then, she finds that local roses contain good antioxidants: vitamin C, essential oil, and zinc. Interestingly, when they are tested on mice, the roses are proven to be able to prevent liver and kidney diseases.
Eventually, it made Elfi change them to processed flower essence drinks in 2017; then, they earned their halal certification in 2019. She says the flower comes from Pasuruan and is always thrown away in rivers during harvest time. As many as 80-100 rosebuds only cost 5000 rupiahs. Thus, she conducted an experiment and formulated the Elviza drink to answer her concern.
“Hopefully, Elviza can be a superior product and an icon of my hometown, the beloved Pasuruan, and Bangil, and so can other potential products,” said Elfi.
Before this accolade, Elviza Drink has successfully obtained several awards. Firstly, it got the Five Best Poster Product Halal Excellent at World Halal Research in Kuala Lumpur. Second, it made Elfi get the title of commendable innovator lecturer for the LLDikti of East Java.
Last but not least, she expects this product not only to benefit herself but also to maintain the health of people who consume it, and so does open job vacancies for local communities. Now, 11 employees have helped the production process, and they will add as time passes. (imh/wil)
