DAILY Supervisory Board (BPH) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Vice Chairman who currently has taken place as Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemdikbud RI) Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.AP., on monthly lecture, which was held at the auditorium of UMM on Saturday (15/4) encouraged UMM to expand its dawah to the frontier, outermost and remote regions.
Muhadjir said that beside tourism potential, regions within 3T zone likely to be empowered its muslim community. Although not much, Muhammadiyah in those regions have a strategic potential for growing. Some areas that mentioned by Muhadjir such as Aru Island and Wakatobi.
Moreover, internal reinforcement through consolidation, UMM also encouraged to expand its dawah. Beside as a UMM’s development institutionally, also as an improvement and expansion of the role in public.
"Consolidation without expansion will be stalled. If the expansion without consolidation would be corrupt. Both must work in harmony, " said Muhadjir in front of civitas academica of UMM.
By citing the Holy Book Al-Quran surah At Taubah verse 111, Muhadjir asserted that traveler's spirit within the verse should be implemented by UMM.
"In the past, due to an emergency condition, Muslims were asked to did jihad through the war. But nowadays, Indonesia for example, which is not in an emergency or war an expansion of broader role in the community should be taken. Muhammadiyah’s predecessors like AR. Fachruddin was also had expanded his dawah in South Sulawesi, also Shafi Ma'arif did the same in Bima, "he said.
Responding to the offer, the Rector of UMMDrs. Fauzan, M.Pd. stated thatwould follow it up by mobilizing the potential of UMM to developthe regions within 3T zone. (Naz)
