The Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia Asked UMM Students to Beware of Public Service Administration

Member of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Dr. Ninik Rahayu, SH., MS. gave a public lecture at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Friday (28/2). Attended by hundreds of students from the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Ninik explained the role of the Indonesian Ombudsman in strengthening the insights of public service delivery.

Ninik began her presentation by explaining the functions, authority and duties of the Indonesian Ombudsman. The Ombudsman's function itself was to oversee the administration of public services. While the authority was calling, checking and clarifying; mediate, conciliate, and make recommendations; Announce findings; Suggest improvements to the organization and procedures; Suggest changes to legislation.

"While the task is to receive public reports; Check the substance of the report; Following up on community reports; Investigate on your own initiative; Coordinate; Manage networks; Preventing maladministration, "said Ninik.

Maladministration was the conduct of organizers/executors who violate the law, go beyond authority, abuse of authority, neglect of legal obligations, cause material and immaterial harm to the community or individuals.

"Some of the forms can be in the form of service quality that does not meet service standards, slowing down or delaying the service process, not carrying out established procedures and collect fees outside of applicable regulations," continued Ninik.
