University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continuously strives to create the best human resources (HR), including in the field of education. Most recently, the Islamic Religious Education Study Program of the Faculty of Islamic Religion (FIR) sent more than 60 students to carry out the Field Work Practice program in schools throughout Malang and Batu City. It is aimed at creating quality educators.
The Head of Islamic Education Laboratory, I'anatut Thoifah S.Pd.I., M.Pd.I., explained that the Student Learning Program is an important activity considering the many superior education narratives that are promoted. “Superior education can be realized if the educators are also superior. The Islamic Education UMM has prepared its students to be able to become superior educators as well,” she said.

It is not just a PKL activity at school, but students must also collaborate with the school to create innovations. The collaboration can be in a positive activity that is aimed at improving the teaching and learning process and developing the character of the students. In addition, all college students have been provided with skills regarding classroom teaching and learning plans, the learning evaluation process, and the Proyek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5).
“We sent them to various high schools in Malang and Batu city, consisting of public, private, and Muhammadiyah schools. Before leaving, they were given various strengthening materials. Mainly related to the Quran, Fiqh, femininity, and Muhammadiyah studies. Moreover, they are also given special skills related to the independent curriculum,” she said.

Iana, as she is familiarly called, also emphasized that this program is to provide direct experience for the college students. It is important to practice the knowledge that has been acquired during lectures. In addition, it is also a way to directly analyze how the world of education occurs in the field. Moreover, dealing directly with a student who is an active subject and has different characters.
Finally, she hopes that all students, especially those who focus on educational science, can have a positive impact on the world of education. The development of a nation is not separated from superior educational products and being able to provide new innovations.
Meanwhile, Deputy Dean I of FIR UMM, Dr. Saiful Amien, M.Pd. provided various motivations for students to be enthusiastic about undergoing the teaching practice process. According to him, in PKL students can see firsthand the state of education. In addition, they can also interpret the importance of knowledge for human life.
