Good news came from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) library. With a good innovation, they won third place for the best website in a competition held by the Forum Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah (FPPTMA) (Trans: Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah Higher Education Library Forum) at the national level. UMM Library received the award directly in March at the Lombok Raya Hotel, Lombok.
Related to the competition achievement, the Director of the UMM Library, Dr. Asep Nurjaman, M.Sc., explained that the competition aimed to develop various libraries, especially those in the Muhammadiyah campus area throughout Indonesia. Moreover, it can achieve internationalization in the future.
UMM library has developed its website in various ways. One of them is using English and Arabic as a means of internationalization, with a series of content that can attract people to visit. Therefore, UMM was able to win the library competition.
Furthermore, the lecturer in Government Science also explained the points of the assessment carried out by FPPTMA. Starting from speed performance, website appearance, and amount of content to content quality. The types of content and the number of visitors are also other considerations.
UMM library is currently focusing on content on non-website social media. According to him, this can encourage the development of libraries, especially for young children. UMM Library continues to create content on Facebook, Instagram, and others. "We also didn't forget to develop the website step by step," he said.
Despite his success in winning the championship, Asep admitted that several things became challenges, but it all could be resolved thanks to the hard work of the UMM library team.
"We also continue to add a variety of content and interesting article. Not only the website having a good quality, we will also continue to maintain the quality of the book collection and the services. The website is one of the gates for young people and the community to increase their literacy. Hopefully the UMM library can also be more easily accessed nationally and globally," he hoped.
