Teachers have responsibilities and strategic roles in delivering students to become superior human beings who are taken into account by the community. So, teachers must have more abilities and provide education that is by the progress of the times. It was conveyed by the Chancellor of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., in the UMM Teacher Profession Program Orientation last Saturday (24/9).
Furthermore, Fauzan emphasized that PPG is not a mere ceremonial and formal activity. However, it must be interpreted substantially to create professional and reliable teachers. PPG participants are also required to be able to understand the condition of students in 2030. Will they be able to compete in those days, or will they become people who have neither expertise nor superiority?
"Why 2030? Because that year was the beginning of the peak of the demographic bonus felt by Indonesia. If you don't manage to take advantage of it, all of Indonesia's 2045 gold dreams will only be wishful thinking. It is predicted that Indonesia will be able to rank sixth with the largest economy in the world," he explained.
The Chancellor from Kediri explained that teachers should be able to carry out their duties with the vision of maximizing, not minimizing. The hallmark of a minimized mindset is the absence of innovation and novelty. This method will not work in a fast-paced era. So according to him, changes must be made immediately so that future human resources can be more secure.
"The pessimistic and permissive way of working must be abandoned immediately. Move and move towards a smart and future-oriented way of working. Teachers must be able to bring the future into today's education, not bring the past to today," he said.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at UMM, Dr. Trisakti Handayani, MM., explained that PPG participants should be grateful. Because out there, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of teachers, are still waiting and have not been certified. He also advised PPG students to be able to maintain their mental and physical health. Given the learning process will take a long time in a day.

Trisakti, his nickname, also explains some of the competencies that PPG participants must possess. Starting with love for the homeland, authoritative, firm, disciplined, full of soul calling, whole heart, and generosity. They are also required to formulate indicators of learning achievement that take place, even by mastering the existing materials.
"PPG friends are also expected to be able to carry out Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) based learning and evaluate input, process, and learning outcomes. So, I hope my friends can follow this PPG process well and wholeheartedly so that they can become professional teachers with future orientation," he concluded. (cdr/wil)
