The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) inaugurated 468 students in Teacher Professional Education (PPG) at the beginning of December. Interestingly, the attending PPG students order from East Java, Papua, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Nusa Tenggara, and other areas across Indonesia. The Director and Education Staff of the Madrasah at the Directorate General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Muhammad Zain, S.Ag., M.Ag., was also present.

In his speech, he congratulated the PPG graduate students, emphasizing the role of teachers in general subjects in madrasah. He mentioned that educators in the future must be able to collaborate between humans and artificial intelligence (AI). He is especially considering that the world now demands individuals' ability to use technological advancements. This era is referred to as Society 5.0.

Zain stated that young children today are exposed to various technological advancements, allowing them to access billions of information easily. If students are not guided properly, there is a high likelihood they will fall into negative situations. Their psyche might be disturbed, leading to bullying, harassment, and other negative actions.

Therefore, Zain suggested that every teacher should understand technologies like artificial intelligence as early as possible. Technologies can also be integrated into exciting teaching materials in the classroom. Moreover, in teaching, a teacher must evoke emotions to stimulate the hippocampus in the brain, which plays a role in connecting emotions to memory.

"When students feel happy, a small part of the brain called the hippocampus will be active and facilitate easier retention of their lessons," he mentioned.
