Various programs supporting the Independent Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) have been implemented by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). One of them is the Merdeka Learning Center of Excellence (CoE) Program, Merdeka Campus. This time, UMM Biology Education Study Program successfully inaugurated the Excellent School of Orchid Cultivation and Marketing on Wednesday (17/08). The Superior School aims to form student entrepreneurial skills based on orchid cultivation and marketing.
Dr. Iin Hindun, M.Kes. As the Head of Biology Education Study Program at UMM, in her speech, the curriculum in this program encourages students to cultivate entrepreneurial souls. Those who participate in this program will fulfill the recognition of reaching 20 credits in semester V or VII. The work internship program through the MBKM CoE also aims to realize the campus's ideas, encouraging students to graduate on time.
"As the Campus aspires, students are expected to graduate on time. Even if you can graduate faster and later, you can get a job in a relatively short time," she explained.
In its implementation, the Biology Education study program collaborates with various institutions. Call it Dede Orchid and Mitra Flora. Both of them are expected to assist in preparing the framework for developing a superior school based on the culture and marketing of this orchid. "It is an advantage for the study program because it can attract two very appropriate partners in the implementation of this excellent school," she said.
Iin continued, three pillars are carried out to realize this excellent school's ideals. First, the actual work internship has been going on for a long time. Then it was developed again through the MBKM CoE. The second pillar is the orchid tourism village, which implements the university's tri dharma and a form of community service—finally, the flagship school itself.
Lastly, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, as the Chancellor of UMM, said that other study programs at UMM needed to provide breakthroughs by opening themselves up and collaborating with many parties. This will open up various opportunities like what the Biology Education study program has done. "I hope that all lecturers will be involved in the dynamics of personal and institutional capacity development. In particular, to support the realization of an intelligent role in contributing to various national problems. Especially in the aspects of work, education and entrepreneurship," said Fauzan closing.
