THE HUGE amount of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) lecturers who have completed their doctoral programs inspired the Center of Islamic and Philosophy Studies (PSIF) UMM to hold the Serial of Dissertation Reviews. The Chairman of PSIF Dr. Pradana Boy, M.A. (AS) expected that this forum can fasilitate all UMM academicians to share knowledge from all disciplines.
According to pradana, UMM has a lot of lecturers that has completed their doctoral program. However, many UMM academicians have no idea about what specialities these lectuirers have. So far, there is no any open forum for the lecturers to share their ideas.
For the first serial, PSIF held the dissertation review on the work of a lecturer from the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) UMM Dr. Abdul Haris, M.A. in AR Fakhruddin Mosque Hall (second floor), Saturday (21/11). In his dissertation, Haris introduced a new technique in reading Kitab Kuning (books containing traditional Islamic teachings written in arabic). This technique is called Dji Sam Soe. “I believe that there is a fast and easy way to read the Kitab Kuning and this technique has proven it,” said Haris.
One of the participants, Muhammad Jumhuri, said that the technique is really useful. “I can try it at home,” he said.
According to the plan, this event will be held monthly in a year. “We have prepared the next presenter, Dr. Nurhakim, M.Ag. We hope that in the next session, more participants will come. Insha Allah, it will be useful,” said Pradana. “We can also invite any presenter that expected by the participants,’ he added. (zul/han/t_far)
