Mohamad Sulton Arifin, the Director of HR at UNESA, stated that he and the team were eager to learn about managing employees, lecturers, and students from Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs). Not only in the field of HR management, but they also planned to collaborate with UMM in other areas to enhance the education system of the nation.
Arifin added that UMM was chosen as a reference for learning because it is a PHEI with a competent and excellent HR governance system. He also conducted benchmarking visits to several State Legal Entity Higher Education Institutions (PTNBH) to understand their HR management practices.
For information, UNESA was designated as a PTNBH by Indonesian Government Regulation No. 37 of 2022 as of October 2022. PTNBHs have autonomous authority to manage their resources and finances, including lecturers and educational staff. Therefore, HR management is crucial in their journey.
In terms of HR governance, UMM has various integrated systems with technology to monitor the activities of lecturers and staff directly. For example, the SIM-SDM UMM is used to monitor activities. UMM also has SIM PMM that can be used by lecturers for research or community service.
Meanwhile, for students, UMM has the Info KHS website that can be accessed by students to perform various activities related to payments, final exams, requesting transcripts, and more. Parents can also monitor tuition payments, course grades, and all information regarding their child's education through the MyUMM Parents application.
"We have designed everything to be done independently and certainly very efficiently," said Prof. Dr. Tri Sulistyaningsih, M.Si, Vice Rector V for HR Development & Al-Islam Kemuhammadiyaan.

Lastly, Tri, as she is affectionately called, added that HR is a crucial element in education. The presence of HR such as lecturers or staff can create a generation of people who are ready and competent. Therefore, the benchmarking of Unesa at UMM is also a platform for mutual learning and collaboration to succeed in educating the nation's generation.
"Hopefully, after this, we can collaborate to develop our respective universities in line with the times. Also, this visit is the beginning of us getting to know each other and designing collaboration programs in the field of HR," she concluded. (tri/wil/fajr)
