Islam in Muhammadiyah is not only at the speech level but also concrete actions. This was emphasized by the Tarjih and Tajdid Assembly Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Dr. H. Hamim ilyas, M.Ag., in the Opening of the Central Working Meeting and National Seminar. The agenda was held on July 21, 2023, at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM).
Furthermore, Hamim hopes that this meeting will not only produce a list of plans but can spark work programs that can be implemented. "This meeting is also a preparation for launching the global Islamic calendar in Pekalongan, which coincides with the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Tarjih Council. Pekalongan was chosen as the launching place because it has a strong historical value, which is where the tarjih assembly was formed," he said.

According to him, Muhammadiyah also wants to build a house for the elderly. Where the house will become a charity for Muhammadiyah. Therefore, this meeting also held a seminar on gerontology, which will discuss aging and the elderly.
"This is also a new step for the Tarjih Council in compiling Fikih Elderly. The experts and the academics will come and discuss various aspects related to aging, the health of the elderly, their social roles, and their special needs," Hamim explained.
He emphasized that Islam is speech and action. Thus everything that will be disseminated and discussed must be practiced. "The practice is in accordance with the Muhammadiyah tradition, which is an institution. Therefore, it is not an individual effort but a joint property of joint work. We are also compiling the Fikih Budaya Berkemajuan as a form of complementation to the economic development that has been done by the state," he said.
On the other hand, the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Dr. Saad Ibrahim, M.A., conveyed the main lesson of assabiqunal awwalun, which is how humans understand possible philosophy and science.

"In my opinion, if wisdom is addressed to a context that is more pragmatic and related to life, then the peak of wisdom can be personified in the science of fiqh that has been born by the Imams. One of them is Imam Syafi'i, who is known for his syarhus sunnah," said Saad.
According to him, it needs to be underlined that the science of fiqh created by the Imams has been carefully determined. Hence, these two things are essential to bringing back the progress of Islam in an Indonesian and universal context. Therefore, the Tarjih and Tajdid Assembly has a considerable responsibility. Moreover, this assembly will be the basis for all other knowledge, such as astronomy, physics, and other sciences. (Put/Zak/Wil)
