Sticking Togetherness, UMM Endlessly Serves

IIn its effort to serve society, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) always invites various institutions and elements including ethnic, religious, and class to move together. Moreover, it is related with Muhammadiyah’s spirit which became its 105th milad jargon, namely "Merekat Kebersamaan".
 
UMM Rector, Fauzan, said that currently UMM also intensely has network with Chinese entrepreneurs who are members of Chinese Indonesian community (INTI) open space for Micro Small Medium Enterprises (UMKM) owned by community and lecturers and students research product in order to compete through investor support. It is the reason of UMM held Festival Kebangsaan last month.
 
"The spirit we bring in the festival is spirit to restore breed and sense of nationalism among identity crisis that is engulfing Indonesian nation. The spirit was built by attaching various elements of society and ethnic groups to move forward together," he explained.
 
For UMKM, this network is very useful for their business in order to enter the wider market. As for UMM, it also supports the hilirisasi and commercialization of long-running research results. For strengthening of research, UMM laboratory quality is highly qualified.
 
Finally, UMM laboratory has just achieved accreditation of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 from National Accreditation Committee (KAN). In detail, four laboratories, Nutrition Laboratory, Biotechnology Laboratory, Biology Laboratory, and Food Science Technology Laboratory (ITP) achieved ISO 9001. While proxima testing, total sugar test, protein test, total plate count (TPC) test and antosianin test reached ISO 17025.
 
Head of UMM Central Laboratory, Elfi Anis Saati, explained that achieving recognition ISO 9001 and ISO 17025, the laboratory will be more credible in releasing test results, especially outside class activities. "In addition to serving the testing by students and lecturers, the laboratory also serves testing from outsiders, including general public, state institutions, private and UMKM," he explained.
 
It is not surprising if UMM got it from National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) to hold accreditation of institution A. Raihan is increasingly affirming that UMM's work will continue to be meaningful for society, nation and civilization. It deals with its motto, from Muhammadiyah for nation.
 
Meanwhile, in a broader context, UMM strives to be the initiator of the rise of islam spirit for world's centuries. Through the activities of Annual International Conference on Islam and Civilization (AICIC) on 17-19 November, UMM invited Muslims from various parts of world to sit together and provide real solutions to various problems faced by the world today.
