As is well known, Indonesia is a heterogeneous country, but its people's tolerance level is currently relatively fading. But this is not found in the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), which is high intolerance. It was said by one of the graduates of UMM, Dr. Roy Hendroko Setyobudi, M.Sc., at the 105th UMM graduation ceremony period III on Thursday (22/9) at the UMM Dome. Also attending the online graduation ceremony was the Portuguese Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Mrs. Maria Joao Falcao Poppe Lopes Cardoso.

Furthermore, Roy, a Catholic, said that as a representative of minority students, he did not feel pressure at all, let alone difficulty, during his lectures. I feel no discrimination. The academic community at UMM is also amicable and welcomes its existence regardless of religion. "I am very grateful to the chancellor and all residents at the White Campus for their assistance during my doctoral studies," said Roy.

Even after graduating, Roy said that alums should not stop learning. Suggestions for continuing to study are also listed in five books at once. In the Qur'an, there are Surah Al-Alaq verses one to five. There is also the Book of Genesis or the book of Genesis chapter 1 verse 28, which is a guide for fellow Catholics and Protestants. In addition, there is also a study recommendation in Dhammapada 18: 242-243 for Buddhists.

"There is also Niki Sataka Sloka 12 for Hindu friends. The last one is in the Book of Analects for Confucians. In addition to studying, the publication and research of scientific works must also be improved. The world is waiting for your ideas and findings through theses, theses, dissertations, and scientific works that you all published. Let's flood Scopus and WoS with scientific works from UMM White Campus," said Roy.

On the other hand, H.E. Mrs. Maria Joao Falcao Poppe Lopes Cardoso said that there are several aspects that Portugal is developing. The first is inclusiveness in education. In this case, Portugal instills several values in the field of education, such as democracy, social cohesion, and intercultural dialogue. The second aspect currently has a good deal is national health which is accessible to the public for free, both native Portuguese and foreigners living in Portugal.

"The third aspect is the drug policy, which has very much suppressed the distribution and abuse of drugs in Portugal. Finally, there is the use of new and renewable energy. Portugal is currently developing various environmentally friendly power plants. It is hoped that by 2030, 80% of the country's electricity needs will come from these environmentally friendly power plants. Maybe these things can inspire the young generation of Indonesia and UMM to contribute in the future," said Maria.

On the same occasion, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, told the graduates that graduation is not the end of the path to gaining knowledge. In the future, graduates will learn more when they enter the community. They are expected to be able to hold on to the values that have been obtained at UMM.

"In the learning process in society, we have to see successful people. Not only on the successful results but also the success process. You must uphold four qualities when you are in society: honesty, confidence, communication, and ease of collaboration. I hope you all become responsible academics and can achieve big goals," he concluded. (cdr/syi/wil)
