RUNNING synergy between academia, society, and Malang Raya community became the aim of Cultural Institute (LK) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held "Cultural Silaturrahmi: Strengthening Culture Culture Arts and Music in Malang", on Saturday (20/1). Located in the Auditorium of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), this event brought together cultural experts from Malang Raya, art community, students and lecturers.

In his speech, Vice Rector I of UMM, Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin M.Si, argued that the culture in Malang today has been lost by times. This is evidenced by the lost of green lands which becomes café, shop, and place kongkow.

Responding to the phenomenon, Syamsul hope this silaturrahmi event can produce a perspective that can be contributed. He also said that UMM opens to culture.

"Muhammadiyah as umbrella of UMM is not anti-cultural, it is not taboo with culture, Mubah, are fine," said Syamsul.

The originator of Kampung Cempluk Malang, Redy Eko Prasetyo, also presented this event. In addition to describing the history of the founding of Kampung Cempluk, Redy also reviewed about the existence of village community and existence of village hooked anecdotes.

Village, for him precisely is something different and special. The village and community are the granaries of an idea. If the granary of ideas is well managed, then the real results can be enjoyed by the whole community like Kampung Budaya Cempluk.

"The village should be stretched productively," said Redy.

Besides Redy, LK Head, Dr Daroe Iswatiningsih MSi and Chairman of Indonesian Music Museum, Hengki Herwanto, were attended as well. (ard)
