For Muslims, Ramadan can accelerate the process of becoming a good person. This was emphasized by Dr. Abdul Haris, M.A., at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Safari Ramadan event on March 30, 2023, at the UMM Hospital. This event was attended by hundreds of employees and the health team of UMM Hospital and UMM Medical Center to improve themselves and their services.

Furthermore, Haris explained that no verse in the Alquran mentions worship related to the word taqwa, except for fasting. This cannot be separated from fasting, which requires us to obey. Don't eat, don't drink, don't get angry, and hold back other desires.

"In fact, worship is a model and makes us a better person. Worship can also affect our daily activities and attitudes," he added.

Fasting is also considered an exercise to be a good person, as well as prayer. Worship makes people avoid abominable and evil deeds. So that humans can have good social morals. Moreover, those with good social morals can beat those with good rituals.

Haris told a story when a friend asked Rasulullah. "There is someone who diligently prays at night, fasts, gives alms and does good deeds. However, he often hurts his neighbors with his words. Where do you think he will end up? Then the Prophet replied that there was no good in that person, and he was included in the inhabitants of hell," added Haris.

Finally, Haris confirmed that Ramadan must be able to give birth to good social morals, including serving patients and families in a friendly manner at the hospital. It puts joy in people's hearts and smiles easily. In that way, Ramadan can be a process of self-improvement and acceleration of goodness.

Meanwhile, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., also gave directions on the Safari Ramadan. He considered that the discussion would only be useful if those who participated prepared a mindset and way of thinking to change to be better.

Ramadan can also be an opportunity to restore the essence of humanity. One of them is increasing capacity as a social being. Capable of carrying out kindness, both for himself and others.

"For example, in terms of service. If you are usually not good and like to grumble, then this month is the right time to change it. If it's usually good, then it must be maintained, and even improved," said Fauzan.

The Chancellor, who came from Kediri, also explained the formula for someone who always tries to be a good human being. The characteristic of openness to criticism and suggestions from the environment. In that way, he can know what his shortcomings have been, then improve them continuously. (put/wil)
