Septifa Leiliano Ceria never thought before, her research in the Syariah department of Syrian immigrants in Canada would actually bring her to the northernmost state in North America. Through the selection of scholarship receipt by Fund Management (LPDP), Anno, as her familiarly called, at the end of this year will start a new adventure of master's studies at McGill University, Canada.
"I am taking Islamic Law in Canada because I want to know another perspective. You see, if you study Islamic law in Indonesia is just same as Middle East," explained Blitar-born woman twenty-four years ago.
During his undergraduate at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (FAI UMM), Anno has been forged in various international agendas. She also admitted that she have been ready to live side with the international community that will be found while starting her master's study later.
In 2015, Anno was selected as a scholarship recipient from the Ministry of Religious Affairs in the Student Mobility Program at the University of Western Australia, Perth, Australia. No less great, in 2016, she also had become one of the translators for the US Army (US Army) during a joint exercise with the Indonesian army.
Anno who has Islamic Family Law education background and already has various volunteers experiences, after graduated from Canada, has at least three targets. The first target is to continue teaching in college in the field of Islamic Law as well as become interfaith peace agents.
The second, Anno is determined to help overcoming the religious problems in various remote areas, especially the family of Islam. Third, she wants to establish a social institution engaged in the family of Islam to improve marriage law in Indonesia. Also, through the action was expected to contribute to reduce the rate of divorce and to the negative impact on children.
Currently, Anno is still listed as an English teacher for Sharia and English For Islamic Studies at UMM Language Center. Interestingly, Anno is the only teacher from the non-English field, since the students of religious majors need a better understanding of English to support them in understanding foreign literature.
For Anno, life is always based on organized goals to be achieved. In the past, she felt that someone who successful has a respectable job can have anything and live without problems. But from her father, she learns that the secret of success is learning how to manage suffering and pleasure.
"Success is a long process through failure and happiness to be beneficial to the communities around us," Anno closed at the end of the interview. (ard)
