A piece of good news came from the International Relations Department (HI) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), which managed to get Excellent Accreditation. Previously, the International Relations study program has successfully maintained A accreditation for nine years since 2013. Now, this one study program can record itself as a study program with superior accreditation based on SK number 2868/SK/BAN-PT/AK-ISK/S/V/2022, which was issued last Tuesday (10/5).
"We have been preparing for it since January by inviting the Ranking Accreditation Integrated Service Unit (UPTAP) and the Study Program Management Unit (UPPS). Both encourage us to get this Superior accreditation immediately. Then finally, the documents were compiled and formed several special teams to take care of this effort, "explained the Head of UMM HI Study Program, Syaprin Zahidi, S.IP. M.A.
Although he succeeded in achieving the goal, Syaprin admitted that his party had encountered several obstacles. One of them is the difficulty of collecting data from lecturers across study programs. However, the International Relations Department could complete it on time thanks to good cooperation. He also considered that the UPTAP provided convenience in finding data for lecturers that had already been centralized.
He also appreciated the teams formed in achieving the Superior accreditation. This achievement indeed triggers the IR study program to provide better service. Be it in terms of teaching, programs, innovation, etc.
In addition, Syaprin also considered that this achievement was not the end but a beginning to set a higher target. "One important vision that I carry is that the International Relations Study Program can immediately open regular learning classes for foreign students. One of the efforts is that we will immediately take care of international accreditation, starting with the regional level accreditation of Southeast Asia next semester," he said.
Syaprin hoped that the future UMM International Relations Study Program could run faster to achieve bigger dreams, including international accreditation and certification. He also wants the quality provided by his party to be suitable for all parties. One way to do that is to slowly encourage young lecturers to earn a doctorate or professorship.(cdr/ros/wil)
