The University of Muhammadiyah Malang always develops its research and publication affairs. One is through various published journals, including Legality, which belongs to the Faculty of Law of UMM. It has been internationally recognized through the Scopus indexer by the beginning of March 2023.
The achievement made is inseparable from the effort of the Faculty of Law to improve its quality and capability. Sholahuddin Al Fatih, S.H., M.H., the Editor in Chief of the Legality Journal, explained that the accreditation was not granted instantly. In fact, the journal was Sinta 4-indexed in 2019. Then Fatih and his team developed the effort by preparing high-quality articles to obtain the predicate of the Scopus index. Finally, their hard work paid off by the beginning of March 2023. “The Legality Journal of the Faculty of Law of UMM becomes the first Scopus-accredited journal in the cluster of the faculty of law in the category of the private university throughout Indonesia,” said Fatih.
Further explaining, this lecturer from Gresik says that if a journal published has been internationally indexed, there are many benefits. For example, the content of a journal article can be read and visited more since it is on the Scopus-indexed journal database.
“Through this journal, we also want to encourage lecturers to write high-quality scientific articles and publish them internationally. It can enable them to place an academic position as a professor. Primarily, the publication can be a term and condition, which hinders the lecturers.” said Fatih.
Lastly, he expects this achievement to motivate another editorial team of a journal, especially in the White Campus. Then many high-quality research publications can be abundant. Next, the research can be continued to be a product or a method for solving emerging problems in the middle of society.
“This is not the final destination, but the beginning one to maintain the quality of research and fulfilling one of the Three Pillars of University: conducting a study,” Fatih ended. (imh/*/ri/wil)
