Mohammad Zinedyne Zidane, a student of the Sharia Economics Study Program (Ekos) at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) won second place in the Business Plan Championship. The national championship was organized by The 10 East Java Economic (EJAVEC) Forum Java Sharia Business Model Competition, in early October. He managed to beat more than 50 participants from various universities in Indonesia.
In his Business Plan, the student from Blitar focused on processing waste that would eventually be reused to be produced as organic animal feed. In addition, it is also a chemical-free plant fertilizer that comes from the decomposition of maggot animals. This can also have an impact on improving the economy and the wheels of benefit for the surrounding environment.

"So, initially this business plan was motivated by concerns about waste accumulation and less innovative waste utilization. Eventually, the idea emerged to process it using maggot and produce products that can improve the economy," he explained.
Furthermore, Zidane, his surname, also explained what the wheel of benefit meant for the surrounding environment. The results of organic animal feed and organic fertilizer derived from maggots can reduce the effects of lifestyle dependence that has often been exposed to chemicals.
"The source of human food is from plants and animals, nowadays we often use chemical additives to accelerate the growth of farming and livestock products. Even though, it has a very negative impact on the level of soil fertility and so on. If we replace these chemicals with maggot products, it will automatically be healthier and the stability of nature will be better," he said.

Interestingly, the concept in this Business Plan has been applied when carrying out Community Service by Students (PMM) in Sumbersuko village, Malang district. Then it was continued by the surrounding community independently. Zidane hopes that the innovation he developed can help the wider community and become a solution to reduce the problem of organic waste in Indonesia.
Finally, he advised students, academics, and practitioners not to hesitate in developing and showing the innovations developed. Never underestimate ideas that may sound impossible to do, but if it has a vision to make Indonesia better, never be afraid to develop it. "Just do it, don't pay attention to what other people say and prove that you can create solutive innovations," he said. (*faq/wil/fajr)
