In the current era, the demand for excellent educators is very high, especially to realize superior education. Recognizing this need, the Islamic Education Study Program (PAI) of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang sent dozens of its students to the Center of Excellence (CoE) for Excellent Islamic School Management on August 12th. These students are specially trained to become skilled and professional educators.

Zulfikar Yusuf, M.Pd.I, the head of CoE, explained that the students in the program are equipped with various skills, ranging from Islamic leadership skills and educational marketing to educational institutional innovation. These materials are provided to students over one semester before they are deployed to schools. According to him, this is essential training to become excellent educators.

“The CoE mechanism lasts for 2 semesters. In the 6th semester, they receive theoretical materials in the classroom, such as leadership, marketing focusing on school branding, and institutional innovation to explore the potential of schools. Then, in the 7th semester, they are sent to schools for a full semester to practice the knowledge they have previously acquired,” he explained.

Furthermore, Izul, as he is affectionately called, elaborated that the CoE has already collaborated with three prominent schools, including the Muhammadiyah Entrepreneurial Boarding School (PEM), SMA Muhammadiyah 10 Gresik, and Thursina International Islamic Boarding School. The selection of these schools is expected to maximize the students' absorption of knowledge related to education. The intended outcome is that when they become educators, they can elevate the quality of education at the schools where they work.

“We know there is often a disparity in quality among schools. CoE students are projected to become agents of change in the field of education. This can later help raise the quality of education in various schools,” he added.

On the other hand, Muhammad Fendi Maulana, one of the CoE students, admitted that he has greatly benefited from participating in CoE classes. According to him, the specialization of the program has helped him deepen his knowledge of excellent education.

Finally, Fendi advised all students who are focused on the field of education to commit to realizing superior education. He emphasized that the progress of a nation is inseparable from the quality of its human resources, which are the result of education. (Faq/Fajr)
