It is an honor for University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) to be the representative of Indonesia-Brunei Darussalam at European Union Gathering 2018 this October in Kuala Lumpur.
, conveyed that this honor is gotten because UMM has been making international cooperation, especially with European Union (EU) for long time. Soeparto said, “We have been cooperating with EU since 2018, such as Asia Link, Erasmus Mundus, and Erasmus Plus”.
That cooperation is increasing year by year. Through Erasmus+ program in 2017 , now in 2018, UMM gets 11 grants Erasmus+ which are 8 grant mobility, 1 grant training, and 2 grant research. 35 people including students, lecturers, and staffs went to Europe joining exchange program.
Those 11 grants come from one university in Portugal, one university in Spain, one university in Romania, 1 university in Latvia, 1 university in Italy, 1 university in Bulgaria, and five universities in Poland. Soeparto said, “Last year, we got 4 grants Erasmus+. This year, we targeted 4 grants. Luckily, we got 11. That is why UMM is appointed as the representative of Indonesia-Brunei at European Union conference”.
Soeparto said that the conference will be held for one week. UMM will present about the history and cooperation with UE during this time. Moreover, UMM presence is expected to give evaluation and suggestion for cooperation policies that will be run in the future. He said, “They want to know our opinion and suggestion for programs to be better”.
This prestigious event will be attended by the doer in various fields, such as research, environment, public policies, and may other projects. Soeparto expects that this event will be beneficial for UMM to cooperate with EU. He said, “This is a chance to know other potential programs that can be implemented in UMM. Besides, it is a chance for UMM to make cooperation widely”.
European Union Gathering will be held for a week in Kuala Lumpur this October. UMM is one of 3 representatives of Indonesia-Brunei Darussalam. (lus)
