“The establishment of the Konsulat Jenderal Republik Indonesia (KJRI) is still quite early, which is 11 years old or was established in 2013. The diplomatic history of Indonesia and Turkey since 1950 has made the relationship between the two countries close as a brother. Therefore, the educational sector is also something that can be collaborated,” he said.

Currently, cultural diplomacy of academic collaboration with universities is quite numerous. There are around 700 Indonesian students who come to Turkey with various backgrounds. Therefore, they must be able to guide them to study abroad by cooperating in certain areas. Therefore, Darsono and his team provided a long list of universities in Istanbul and its vicinity that are accredited superior according to the Consulate General.

“The students from Indonesia will avoid entering a university that is unclear about its location and accreditation. Currently, there are a lot of agents who offer lectures abroad, but it turns out they are fraudsters,” he said.

Darsono advised that the MoU agreement that had been agreed upon could be a great asset for all parties. Moreover, Turkey considers Indonesia as its own country, so it is hoped that good programs can emerge in the future. He emphasized that if there is a visit from the UMM delegation, the Consulate General will be ready to welcome them in Istanbul.
