Seven universities from United Kingdom (UK) attended UK-Indonesia Collaboration Forum and Fair at University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Monday (18/9). Those seven campuses were De Montfort University Leicester, University of Dundee, University of Westminster, Durham University, Harper Adams University, University of Bradford, and Swansea University.
This even is a collaboration between EdUKIndo and UMM. These two institutions also presented delegation from International Affairs Office from several campuses in Indonesia to discuss about the extension of international partnership.
Every campus delegation shared about research and development in their campuses. The Head of International Relations department, Gonda Yumitro SIP MA shared about the cooperation networks in Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) especially in International Relations department.
Gonda said, "At UMM, also at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, we cooperate with various universities in abroad. So far, the cooperation mostly is done with campuses in Asia by MoU. Through collaboration like this, hopefully we can cooperate with UK campuses”.
Gonda said that, some time ago, one of his articles was published in an International journal indexed Scopus. This attracted the attention of University of Westminster. Dr Panos Hahamis from University of Westminster said, “ Our campus is a research-based campus. So, the students who are active in doing research will be good”.
UK education exhibition was not the first time held at UMM. According to the head of International Relation Office (IRO) UMM Dr Abdul Haris MA, this event had four goals. "There are four goals why this event is held, which are introducing UMM's international collaboration to students and public, giving foreign students opportunity to join exchange program at UMM, increasing international recognition, and as strategic step toward world class university," (lus)
