UMM Presents 233 Researchers, Research Products Can Solve Community Problems

Lots of research products of lecturers and students that have not been implemented in society made UMM initiated to hold National Seminar and Degree of Product (SenasPro) 2017 with theme "Festival Kebangsaan: Innovation-Hilirisasi Result of Research and Community Service Towards Indonesia Progress" on 17 -18 October 2017.

"University is a warehouse of scientists which makes research every year, one of the result is a product research. However, in fact, only less product research can be implemented functionally in the community," he explained at the opening of SenasPro 2017, Tuesday (17/10) at UMM Dome.

In fact, continued Fauzan, many fundamental problems that cannot be solved independently by community. Fauzan also urged that every university has to take part in solving various problems in society. "We want, every college should take on the role of problem solver in the community," he added.

SenasPro activities was followed by 233 researchers and devotees from various universities in Indonesia. It also presented 40 booths of small and medium enterprise (UMKM) product, including UMM students and Ma Chung University, and 47 companies which directly reviewing the research products and UMKM booths.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the chairman of Chinese community of Indonesia (INTI), Agus Endra, and the Chancellor of Ma Chung University, Dr. Chatief Kunjaya MSc, where the two institutions were partners in this activity.

The chairman of SenasPro 2017, Ir M Irfan MT added, in addition to accelerate the realization of hilirisasi research and service products in the environment of universities, this activity also aimed to prepare the nation of Indonesia in the ASEAN Economic Community.

"Every year, the global challenge of Indonesian nation is getting heavier. Hopefully, this activity will contribute to strengthen Indonesian nation or even in ASEAN Economic Community that has been enforced," said Irfan.

Meanwhile, Agus Endra as a chairman of INTI was impressed to SenasPro 2017 which was very nationalism nuance. "It is fun to see us from different backgrounds, but we can still work together in this activity," he said. (ard)
