After confirming three professors in the field of education and one professor in communication, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) again inaugurated a new professor. This time, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sutawi, M.P. was successfully inaugurated as a professor in animal husbandry last Wednesday (24/3). Present at the event was the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) and the Head of the UMM Daily Development Board (BPH), Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P., and the Head of the LLDIKTI Region VII East Java Prof. Dr. Ir. Soeprapto, DEA.

The White Campus inaugurated four new Centers of Excellence (CoE) at the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in the same event. Among them are Betel Oil Class (Forestry Study Program), Agrocomplex Export Class (Agribusiness Study Program), Plant Seed Production Class (Agrotechnology Study Program), and Ruminant Class (Animal Husbandry). All these schools are provided to strive for the birth of a future independent generation. The concept of the inauguration is also quite exciting and different from usual. The wild west and cowboy décor filled the entrance and stage. Even Sutawi went to the location by riding a horse.

UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. Advised that the inauguration should not only be interpreted as a mere formality. These properties and decorations must have logical consequences for the office being confirmed. He also hopes that the new professor at FPP will be able to accelerate the programs that have been rolled out so far.

"Of course, we want this new professor to be able to make FPP UMM superior. He excelled at the national and international levels," he said.

Fauzan also quoted Sutawi's speech related to his father's message that said not to be a farmer because it was difficult. Even so, farming is still one of the happiest jobs. So, according to him, the paradigm for measuring happiness should use the size of religion and faith. Feelings based on gratitude will give birth to joy.

On the other hand, Muhadjir congratulated and judged Sutawi as a true writer. This can be seen from the series of works and achievements that Sutawi has produced. Regarding the inauguration of professors, he also advised UMM to look outside to catch up with other universities immediately. Especially foreign universities, which are increasing.

Meanwhile, Sutawi explained that he had researched the happiness of laying hens in Malang Regency in his speech. Likewise, with the study of the enjoyment of dairy farmers in Malang Regency and the influence of agricultural and livestock GDP on the happiness of the Indonesian population and various other studies.

Based on the scientific oration delivered by Sutawi, even though he has a low income, livestock is a profession that is considered happy. The survey results are consistent with similar surveys in various countries that people who work as farmers, including ranchers, fishers, and planters, are a happy group of people. In Malaysia, for example, those who feel so glad and proud to work as farmers.

Then in the United States, 99% of Ohio farmers reported being happy with their overall quality of life. While in the UK, then found the highest happiness index in people working in the agriculture, fishing, and forestry sectors. The same thing is also found in other countries like France and even Ghana.

"The happiness of a nation is like a tree. Agriculture is the root, while trade and industry are the branches and leaves. If the roots are removed, the branches will die, and the leaves will fall," he explained. (apg/wil)
