The excitement of the Muhammadiyah congress in Surakarta began to be felt. One was at the Muhammadiyah Innovation and Technology Expo, which was opened on 17 November 2022 in De Tjolomadoe, Surakarta. The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) team was included and exhibited the latest findings and innovations. Starting from the SAR robot and eco prints to Metaverse UMM.

UMM MITE team leader Amrul Faruq, M.Eng. explained that visitors could feel the fun of interacting in the metaverse world created by the White Campus team. You can even play with UMM students in Malang. In addition, he also considered that this innovation could be used as an alternative place for meetings or discussions.

Faruq, his nickname, also explained about the SAR robot, which won several competitions and awards. The robot can evacuate fire victims, detect fires, and extinguish them. Even so, he feels the need for many collaborations to develop this robot in various aspects. For example, building a robot that can detect earthquakes, save victims, and other exciting things.

"Not only that, but we also provide a series of other innovations for visitors. Such as micro hydropower plants (PLTMH) and solar power plants (PLTS). This man from Sidoarjo assesses that the power produced by the PLTMH is sufficient, especially if an area has a river with the right river flow," he said.

Even with PLTS, which continues to be developed. Even now, UMM is setting up a PLTS-based bus stop with solar electricity. Even plugs can charge various devices while waiting for the bus to arrive.

"Of course, in the future, there will be many opportunities and innovations that we can generate. But I think collaboration is an important point to accelerate and innovate," he said.

The participants and cheerleaders showed high enthusiasm at the 48th MITE Muhammadiyah Congress. One of them was Citra Anjani. He was amazed when he tried the metaverse. Moreover, this is the first time he has pushed the technology that is often hailed.

"Indeed, I often know from Youtube and other social media, but have never tried. So, I immediately wanted to feel how it feels in the metaverse world when UMM opened the opportunity. Moreover, we can try several worlds, such as flying cars, in the middle of the city, and others," he added.

Citra also considers that human resources (HR) must be ready to face rapid technological developments. You must be brave and willing to keep learning and progressing. This way, reliable and capable human resources will be born.

Interestingly, UMM has also provided programs to achieve that goal, namely the Center for Future of Work (CFW) and the Center of Excellence (CoE). The two flagship programs of the White Campus aim to produce the best human resources and are ready to face the changing times. (cdr/wil)
