Succeeding in the national and international stage, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) strengthens its resources with additional indicators in global rankings. To keep up the synergy, UMM held an International Ranking Workshop on August 13th. The event comprised sharing sessions and alignment of developments regarding rankings, as well as performance-based governance as a strategic Key Performance Indicator (KPI) at the international level.

Currently, UMM is one of the private universities that has passed the national performance indicator standards and reached the international indicators. The Director of the Bureau of Research, Service, and Cooperation, Dr. Salahudin S.IP, M.Si., M.P.A., explains that this is based on convincing resources with strategic steps that need to be pursued. This includes the strengthening of various aspects of UMM in maximizing international rankings.

“We are already discussing the strategic plan, and have consolidated at the leadership level, up to the level of the major program and students. Therefore, we have ensured that UMM's global ranking is sustainable and will continue to increase in the future,” he explained.

The workshop was also accompanied by a systematic consolidation of the Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah dan Aisyiyah (PTMA) (trans: Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Universities) team. Hopefully, it will increase the synergy between fellow PTMAs to always support UMM to be on the right path to focus on international rankings. Therefore, with the implementation of this agenda, the UMM team will strengthen themselves to bring UMM to become stronger in international rankings.

“I hope that with this workshop event, our team can be more solid and work towards the main target of recognizing UMM in the world, including global rankings,” he added.

Meanwhile, UMM Vice Chancellor 4, Muhammad Salis Yuniardi, S.Psi, M.Psi, PhD, explained that this workshop was held as a forum for sharing and also increasing the synergy among PTMAs in improving ranking in the global competition. Especially for universities like UMM, which have been accredited as Superior. In addition, there are already several study programs that are internationally accredited and very adequate resources that make it the time for UMM to get into international competition.

“For the past two years, UMM has been listed in the cluster of 500 to 600 best universities in Asia. This ranking will continue to improve in the future. In addition, it can also enter other rankings such as Webometric or Unirank, which are also recognized by many universities. Currently, UMM is always in the top ranks in Indonesia and Asia, “he concluded. (Din/Faq/Put)
