UMM Are Ready to Develop International Class Using Bahasa Indonesia

VICE Chairman of Badan Pembina the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Prof Dr Muhadjir Effendy MAP, encouraged UMM can realize a world-class university through internationalization of Bahasa Indonesia. It was announced by Muhadjir who is also a Minister of Education and Culture of the Indonesia Republic when visiting UMM, Saturday (22/10).

Muhadjir hoped that UMM is able to spearhead an international class by making Bahasa Indonesia as the main language. "The goal is to make Bahasa Indonesia studied by foreign students and continued to be our primary language by requiring foreign students to study Bahasa Indonesia through BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing), "he said.

Muhadjir also urged UMM lecturers do not merely send their papers to international journals. "The work sent to international journals will even make Bahasa Indonesia unsold. It should push domestic journal in order to have international recognition, the way is, create international journals using Bahasa Indonesia, "hoped the former of UMM Rector .

Moreover, said Muhadjir, UMM is expected to be a reference to hundreds of Muhammadiyah universities in Indonesia. He added that the courses at UMM should be strengthened. This refers to the four sectors which are the mainstay of the current government, one of which is the creative industry.

"Communication sciences course at UMM was one that is ready to be carried to the creative industries. It is already good, but need to be improved deeper, particularly in the areas of graphics and cinematography, "he said.

Concurred, UMM Rector, Fauzan, said that internationalization at UMM not only requires developing partnerships to various countries in the world. Internationalisation also means making foreigners more familiar with the culture of Indonesia and the athmosphere. "Here, foreign students must be able to speak Bahasa Indonesia. They also must be adapted with indigenous students, "he said.

Related creative industries, Fauzan explained, currently Vice Rector III UMM is preparing a strategy to get students ready to explore the region. Communication Studies UMM which successfully juggle the slum into a colorful village Jodipan was one of the proofs.

UMM, said Fauzan, is also conducting an increase in human resources. There are 14 professors who perform intensive assistance in 74 of the 114 doctors at UMM. In the scope of the Vice-Rector, structuring academic and administrative services and learning is now becoming a focus. Meanwhile, Vice Rector II continues to improve governance in the financial sector.

Friendhship and direction from Muhadjir was attended by deans, vice deans I, II, and III of all faculties, head of the study program, heads of agencies, and heads of agencies of UMM.
