Participating in an international event such as the ASEAN University Games at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was a memorable experience. Especially with the weather, the buildings, the landscape and the lake on the White Campus. It was said by Muhammad Nazrul, one of the AUG participants in the pencak silat competition from Singapore.
During the competition since July 3rd, UMM has given him a great impression as the host. He was also happy and enthusiastic about the AUG, considering it was his first international championship since he started playing in this sport.

"I just figured out that the hotel I was staying in is owned by UMM. Being close makes it easy to mobilize our team. In my opinion UMM has prepared this AUG very well in terms of venue preparation and experience during the competition," he said.
Nazrul also complimented the grandeur of the AR Fachruddin mosque that is also owned by UMM. Moreover, the mosque is functioned in various areas. Some are used for classrooms, coaching rooms, and even banks. In addition to the mosque, Nazarul was also comfortable with the weather and food while he was in Malang City. He said, Malang City has cooler weather when compared to the weather in Singapore. Moreover, food in Indonesia has a more savory taste and has a distinctive aroma of spices.
The same thing was also conveyed by Amigos, one of the contingents from Indonesia. So far, he feels that UMM is well prepared for an international event like this. "I appreciate UMM for really hosting us very well. Starting from the accommodation to supporting facilities such as health and food," he said.

Furthermore, Amigos is also happy that the venue is in the UMM Dome. The dome is very spacious and safe to stay in. Moreover, the location is also not far from the hotel, making it easier to reach the venue.
During the AUG organized at UMM, Amigos hopes to make the nation and his parents at home proud. He hopes that events like AUG can be his preparation for bigger competitions.
"I will work hard and aim to appear in other prestigious events in the field of pencak silat such as the Sea Games, Asean Games, and others," he concluded. (tri/wil/put)
