The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) always synergizes with many parties to spread benefits, including with the police, as stated by Moh. Nurhakim, M. Ag. Ph.D. in the Ramadan Discussion Event of UMM. Lecturers and employees of UMM also attended the agenda held on April 10, 2023. Nurhakim, the Special Assistant to the Rector in Islamic and Muhammadiyah Affairs, also states that a harmonious relationship between UMM and the police must always be maintained.

“UMM and the police must run together. With good cooperation, it will also emerge lots of goodness and benefits. It begins with the sector, resort, regional, and national levels of police. Those relations must run harmoniously, remembering that many things we need to do together, both are from security and development aspects,” said he.

Meanwhile, the team representative of Resort Police of Batu, Totok Harianto, S.H., M.H. says that the spiritual level of people during Ramadan improves. Also, it affects the decrease of criminal acts occurring.

“This month is suitable for us to strengthen kinship, both among humans and institutions. Hopefully, this Ramadan can make us better people: protecting us from sins and crimes,” said he.

AKP Anton Widodo, S.H., M.H., the Chief of the Police Sector of Lowokwaru, and Kompol Triwik Winarti, S.H., M.H., the Chief of the Police Sector of Dau District, also conveyed similar ideas. They highly appreciated the White Campus - the alias of UMM - for its achievements, including how its students behave. Anton says that UMM students never commit any criminal acts in the Lowokwaru region.

“UMM students are special, meaning that they are never involved in any criminal cases in the Lowokwaru region. According to the citizens’ reports, they behave well enough,” explained he.

Anton also says that the relations between his team and UMM have been established for a long time, even since the campus was founded. Interestingly, UMM always maintains good relationships and never cuts communication with the police albeit there is a chief restructuring at the sector level.

On the other hand, Winarti feels that UMM regions are unique, especially the Campus III one. It is inseparable from the location of the campus in the two districts: Malang City and Regency. Then, she recommends that synergy and understanding must go on, so security and usefulness can continue steadily. “Especially during Ramadan and Eid Mubarak later. Don’t let misunderstanding toward information happen.” said Winarti.

Last but not least, she advises academic staff to be constantly obedient and to try to be better people and even to make achievements to make the university proud, extensively Malang. (imh/faq/wil)
