Muhammadiyah Malang University (UMM) and the International Relations and Cooperation Agency (LHKI) of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) held the Diplomacy Training for Global Partnerships Batch 2. The event aimed to strengthen diplomatic capacity to support international cooperation. The International Relations (IR) Study Program at UMM was entrusted as the host for the training, which took place from November 29 to December 1, 2024.
More than 80 participants took part in the event, including delegates from the Muhammadiyah Majelis, the Muhammadiyah Higher Education International Affairs Office, as well as activists and practitioners in international relations. The training became even more interesting with the involvement of a range of expert speakers, including diplomats, scholars, and practitioners in international relations. Some of the prominent speakers included Ambassador Yuli Mumpuni Widarso, Ambassador Priyo Iswanto, Ambassador Bunyan Saptomo, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu'ti, M.Ed., Prof. Dr. Syafiq A. Mughni, Yayah Khisbiyah, and several other key figures.

In his remarks, Dr. Imam Addaruqutni, M.A., Chairman of LHKI PP Muhammadiyah, emphasized that this event had a strategic dimension in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. “This training not only highlights global cooperation but also serves as a concrete step in building the diplomatic capacity of the younger generation, especially at the international level,” he stated.
Imam, as he is commonly called, explained that one of the key principles in SDGs is sustainable partnerships. Thus, this training represents a real manifestation of that principle. "Partnership is not just about coordination; it also involves the ability to read global dynamics and direct policies for mutual interests," he added.

He further highlighted the importance of Muhammadiyah's active contribution in producing cadres who can play roles on the international stage. This way, Muhammadiyah's influence will expand across various countries and regions. "This diplomacy training program is concrete proof of Muhammadiyah's commitment to building a generation of diplomats who have a global outlook, along with an understanding of progressive Islamic values.
