Pursuing knowledge sincerely is the first step to improve the degree of a Muslim. This was confirmed directly by the famous Dr. H. Das'ad Latif, S.Sos., S.Ag., M.Si., Ph.D. He conveyed the material in a guest lecture organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FSPS), the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), last November 18. Interestingly, there were hundreds of audiences who came, both the UMM academic community and from general participants.

"Look at my name, how many academic degrees do I have, isn't it long? It's a manifestation of my love for seeking knowledge," he said with laughter.

In the event entitled 'Strengthening Student Morals and Achievements, Welcoming the Golden Indonesia 2024', the preacher who has two doctoral degrees explained that the process of studying is very hard, difficult, tired, and sometimes suffering. However, he reminded the audience by quoting Surah Al-Mujadalah verse 11, which is Allah's promise to those with knowledge.

"It is obvious and there is no doubt about Allah's promise in Surah Al-Mujadalah verse 11. Allah will raise those who believe among you and those who are given knowledge several degrees. And Allah is thorough in what you do," he said.

According to him, one of the steps that must be understood by people with knowledge is to prioritize good morals and manners. Morals and manners are a good sign of human realization and are beneficial for the surrounding environment. He described people who are knowledgeable but do not have good morals and manners as corruptors and lower than an animal.

Finally, the last step that must be taken to improve the degree of a Muslim is to be filial piety to both parents. Parents have given birth, raised, and taught from childhood to adulthood. who have given birth, raised, and taught from childhood to adulthood. Only with the pleasure and prayers of both parents, a person can reach the level of success.

"Parents are the most meritorious. You were born and lived until now because of your parents, so be devoted to them. Likewise with your teachers or lecturers who have given knowledge while studying at school and campus," he said.

He also advised all participants to maintain the relationship between fellow Muslims, especially when entering a political year like this. The youth, especially students, not only knowledgeable, but also not apathetic to politics. The youth must contribute to the nation, especially in the era of welcoming the golden Indonesia 2045.
