The case of hacking social media accounts is still one of the problems experienced by the community. Seeing this phenomenon, the Vocational Directorate of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) studied the theme "Security and Digital Forensics for Social Media" in the Student Day agenda last March.

Syaifuddin, S. Kom. M. Kom. who was appointed as a speaker, said that what he conveyed aimed to add insight—not even cornering or harming others. There are more than 197 million active social media users in Indonesia. Mobile phone users are even higher at 307 million.

"This figure can be obtained because one person usually has more than one device. Then the most used application is Whatsapp, followed by YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Twitter. This large amount is certainly an opportunity for individuals to break into existing accounts," he added.

Bad people carry out various ways to weaken social media accounts. One of them is phishing by continuing to lure users through messages or tempting offers even though it is a way for hackers to take over accounts.

In addition, easy-to-guess passwords are also why accounts are easily hacked. These include the date of birth, mother's name, own name, and other things.

Syaifuddin gave a series of solutions that could be tried—starting from increasing awareness and being careful with incoming messages. In addition, it must continuously strengthen security in terms of complex passwords fingerprint scanning, up to two times of verification.

"Strengthening account security is an essential step in protecting personal data. Likewise, to reduce the number of account abuse for fraud, "he added.

At the same agreement, Dr. Tulus Winarsunu, M.Si, as the Director of Vocational Studies at UMM, said that students must be confident and brave to start something. Accompanied by qualified skills and enthusiasm to learn, passion is in demand. So that later they can contribute to society.

"Student Day is indeed aimed at forming vocational students so that they are confident and dare to make the right decisions. You can't feel shrunk and lose before you compete," concluded Tulus. (cdr/haq/wil)
