The quality of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang is undoubted. Lastly, UMM, the White Campus, successfully ranked first as the best private university of East Java on Webometric. UMM also ranked one of Indonesia's top five best private universities and the 22 largest state and national private campuses. The international rating agency, Webometric, released the data.
The vice chancellor of International Accreditation and UMM Ranking, Drs. Suparto, M.Pd., is very proud of this achievement. He explained that Webometrics is not only a number but also shows each campus's condition and quality.
"This ranking does not only look at the website. The data is indeed taken from the web, but there are various aspects that are assessed. After all, the campus website will not be able to read if there are no neat activities that are always organized by the campus," he added.

Nationally, he said that UMM's ranking rose in this period compared to the January 2023 period. It means that there is a quality improvement that UMM has pursued. Three important aspects are seen, including Impact, transparency, and excellence.
"Impact" has the most significant portion of the assessment, reaching 50 percent. Here, Webometric sees how much traffic passes on the UMM website. Then transparency focuses more on how many lecturer citations are accessed. This field has a portion of 10 percent. The last is excellence which looks at how excellent and many quality UMM journals are.
"All rankings, including Webometric, show the face of each campus. Whether it is for UMM or other universities. In my opinion, campuses must be included in the ranking circle so that the public knows and understands how good the quality of the related universities is," he said.

Meanwhile, UMM Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., appreciated UMM's achievement in the Webometric international institution ranking. According to him, all recognition at the regional and international levels is essential for universities. Moreover, many aspects are assessed and recognized as excellent. "This achievement is also a sign of public trust in the institution, in this case, the White Campus," he added.
Nevertheless, he thinks that more than recognition is needed for universities. Another thing that needs to be pursued is the development of human resources (HR) who have independence and qualified skills. " Thus, universities must not let their guard down. Not only relying on recognition alone but also constantly striving to improve human resources towards a developed Indonesian nation. Hence, UMM also has a remarkable program that is able to perform this task and fully contribute. The program is the Center of Excellence, "said Fauzan ended. (Put/Wil)
