The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has once again produced an outstanding graduate who has earned numerous awards, especially in the music industry. Aldo Al Qodri, a graduate of the Communication Studies program, has made a significant impact in the music world. During his studies, Aldo produced many musical works, ranging from pop genres, campaign songs, to commercial jingles. Moreover, some of his songs have been purchased by famous artists and are frequently heard on various platforms.

From a young age, Aldo showed a keen interest in music. His hobby of writing and creating songs was evident when he was still in elementary school. Inspired by watching music shows on television and listening to songs from soap operas, Aldo asked his parents to buy him a guitar. Teaching himself, Aldo began channeling his talent into music creation.

His musical journey continued to grow when he entered junior high school. He took the initiative to participate in various music competitions and joined Purwacaraka Music School, one of Indonesia's leading music schools. His achievements began to shine when he wrote his first song during high school in 2017, inspired by his experience of falling in love. The song was well-received and even purchased by a band.

He also shared that his first experience creating a jingle began with the opportunity provided by UMM’s Communication Studies program to contribute to the annual Komakksi event. From there, he started making jingles.

“UMM’s Communication Studies program has greatly supported my music career. I was equipped with skills in researching current social trends to use as song themes, communicating, and maintaining relationships with clients. Additionally, writing memorable and pleasant lyrics was emphasized, and all of that is covered in UMM’s Ikom,” he explained.

Thus, Aldo successfully created jingles for various well-known brands such as Yamaha, UNESCO, Mars, several TVRI programs, and many others. He noted that balancing music and studies was certainly challenging, requiring good time management to complete everything.

In addition to working in the commercial music industry, Aldo is also actively involved in social campaign music projects. His awareness of social issues, which he learned during his time at UMM’s Communication Studies program, has led him to be frequently invited to create songs supporting social or environmental movements. Aldo continues to actively produce musical works that not only have commercial value but also carry social messages. He is committed to using his knowledge effectively and proudly representing the red-jacketed UMM.  (Ri/Wil)
