Falling up and down in order to pursue the dream is the usual way to do it. The most important thing is how to find solutions and gain the trust among the closest people. This point was emphasized by a Psychology student at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Zeriflita Aura Rinjani. This principle also assisted her in bringing home a silver medal at the national rock climbing championship competition at the end of August 2023, held at the University of Udaya Bali.
She emphasized that the support of family and friends is the reason why she can survive and rise. Her victory in this championship event was also thanks to the full support of the UMM White Campus, which provided training facilities and morale.
At least 20 campuses public and private competed for the championship in the event. Ganesha University, Kutai Kartanegara University, Samarinda Polytechnic, and others institutions were present. Despite many competitors, Zeriflita admitted that she was not afraid. "There is nothing special about the technique itself, because the technique is dependent on the terrain as well as the physical and psychological condition," she added.

In addition, Zeriflita has frequently competed in national competitions. Previously, she had won several regional and national competitions. For example, she was the first winner of the nature lover’s community (Kompala) held in Riau, the first winner of Pomprov 2022 held by the Malang Regional Government, and also a finalist in the national competition of the Indonesian Rock Climbing (FPTI) in Situbondo.
She has been pursuing rock climbing since junior high school, specifically in 2017. Her enthusiasm grew due to her parent’s previous experience as a rock climbing athlete.

“Maybe the proverbial, “the apple does not fall far from the tree”, suits me. In addition, my father is a rock climbing from East Java and a graduate of the UMM White Campus. My mother is also a rock climbing from Riau who has a lot of flight hours and experience”, she explained.
Zeriflita also participated in The Malang City Training Center (Puslatkot) and required daily routine training to continue improving her abilities. As a result, her technique and physical endurance can be maintained. Further, when being competitive, collaborating and sharing with other athletes and coaches can also find the best strategy.
