VIVAnews - National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) predicts will be many regions in Indonesia, affected by floods, landslides, droughts, forest fires, and a tornado in 2013. This condition is expected to increase the awareness of the public to remain vigilant.

Potentially catastrophic tornado occurred in March and April 2013. While floods and landslides potentially occur until March 2013. Peak floods and landslides occurred in January-February 2013.

"A total of 315 districts / cities with a population of 60.9 million people living in areas prone to medium-high flooding in Indonesia. While 270 districts / cities with a population of 124 million people in an area prone to landslides are medium-high," said Head of Data and Public Relations BNPB Sutopo Purwo Nugroho BNPB Office, Jakarta, Thursday, December 20, 2012.

Sutopo explained, until March 2013, the cold lava flood could potentially occur at Mount Merapi, Gamalama, Bromo, Lokon and Soputan. While perpotensi drought occurred during August to October in Java, Bali, NTT, and water deficit areas.

"Land and forest fires during the dry season could potentially occur in 8 provinces subscriptions land and forest fires such as North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan," he said.

For the earthquake and tsunami can not be predicted because it is sudden. During 1629-2012 about 172 artifacts tsunami in Indonesia. "The potential tsunami there in 233 districts / cities with a population of 5 million people," he said.

To anticipate this, BNPB will begin to implement the masterplan Tsunami Disaster Risk Reduction.

There are four major program of implementation of the master plan is the strengthening of early warning chain, construction and improvement of evacuation while, strengthening the capacity of disaster preparedness and risk reduction, and the development of independent industrial disaster.

BNPB funds provided for the year 2013 amounted to Rp 1 trillion. While the need for a masterplan total reached Rp16, 7 trillion in 5 years. Therefore, the implementation of the 2013 will be a high priority in tsunami-prone areas such as megathrust Mentawai Region Sunda Strait, and the South Coast of Java, South Coast Region Bali-Nusa Tenggara and Papua area.
