VIVAnews - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono opened the annual meeting of the Bali Democracy Forum V in Nusa Dua, Bali. SBY to thank all those who promote democracy in the Asia Pacific region.
"Bali Democracy Forum has become a platform for the advancement of democracy and political future," the president said at the opening of the annual meeting of the Bali Democracy Forum in Nusa Dua, Bali, Thursday, November 8, 2012.
According to Yudhoyono, this forum is not only the result declaration form, but evidence. Since 2008, this forum is considered to be very concrete affirmation and demonstrate a commitment to advancing the principles of democracy.
"There is progress in the Asia Pacific region. Myanmar democracy also progressing. If last year there were 40 countries, now the number to 48 countries," Yudhoyono said.
For SBY, this forum a space to learn and exchange ideas with each other in implementing democratic values. In the last five years, the President believes the country who are members of this forum a positive contribution in promoting development in the region.
"We must not stop. We must move forward. To that end, it should continue to consolidate and should not take for granted," said SBY.
SBY rate, this forum is very helpful finding the format or way of democracy in the Asia Pacific region. Not only that, the President also believes this forum contributed to the global implementation of democracy in the region.
"I am sure this forum will realize all that. Global development should not use past behavior. We must be responsive and effective to prevent war. International community must prevent bloodshed. Should be no concrete steps to prevent it," said SBY.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister, Marty Natalegawa, said that since the last five years, this forum has facilitated the countries in the Asia Pacific region on democracy and good governance. According to Marty, the effect of this board seen in 2011, when a wave created history of democracy in North Africa and the Middle East.
"Bali Democracy Forum supports the development of a changing world to raise awareness of how the international community could develop global principles," said Marty.
The meeting was attended by 140 countries and international organizations, 11 heads of state, and the two heads of state, 42 ministers attended and 45 other heads of delegations. Delegates were invited agreed to enhance democratic principles in the global order. (Art)
