A new study from The Lancet Rheumatology Journal explains that 800 million people have the potential to experience lower back pain or low back pain by 2050. Seeing this phenomenon, Rakhmad Rosadi, PT, Ph.D., a Lecturer and Practitioner of Physiotherapy at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), spoke up. According to him, when lower back pain occurs a lot among the youth, it will impact their old age.
The Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Health Sciences UMM also conveyed several factors that cause this. Starting from the implementation of an unhealthy lifestyle, the incorrect position of lifting weights, to a sitting position that is too long.

"Actually, there are a lot of factors. Especially for those who spend a lot of time sitting on chairs and desks. It is usually experienced by office workers who work for seven to eight hours a day. Then also how to lift heavy loads with the wrong position such as bending over. This is exacerbated by the lack of exercise practiced by the people," he explained.
If the back pain is not treated immediately, it will likely decrease one's productivity. Many people underestimate back pain. Even though it will significantly impact his life, doing simple things that are usually easy will be difficult and troublesome. It will result in a decrease in productivity.

Dr. Rakhmad also provides some tips to avoid and reduce lower back pain. The first is to implement a healthy lifestyle, including exercising and doing activities such as walking every day.
"Indeed, lower back pain can be prevented and treated. You can start with simple things like light stretching after 30 minutes of sitting. It's even better if you take the time to exercise 150 minutes per week. If it is divided five times a week, so about 30 minutes per day," he explained.
Finally, he strongly recommends that everyone pay more attention to their sitting position. Although it may seem trivial, it can hurt health. The same goes for body position when lifting weights. Slouching can increase the risk of back pain. The best position to lift heavy loads is by squatting.
"Let's take an example when we lift a full gallon of water. It weighs at least 18-20 kilograms. It is best to use a squatting position when lifting. Do not get used to taking a bent position because it is dangerous," he said. (Put/Faq/Wil)
