Insurance is still not a priority for the community, especially the younger generation. Insurance is a means of financial protection to overcome risks and losses in life. Moreover, in this age of uncertainty, insurance protection is increasingly relevant.

This issue caught the attention of Widhiyo Sudiyono, ST, M.A.B, as a Management Lecturer at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). He highlighted that insurance is not just an ordinary financial product. More than that, its existence is one of the smart and strategic investments to protect the younger generation from financial risks.

"In an era of social and economic change, insurance provides a path of safety that can catch us when we are down," he said.

Insurance becomes a preparation for future finances, especially for the youth, who often consider that health becomes fixed. He also suggested that insurance can be started now to make the premium charged more affordable.

"Health insurance helps with hospital and medical expenses. For life insurance, the insurance funds will be disbursed when we pass away. Life insurance provides financial support for the family left behind. Therefore, the function of financial protection produced by life insurance cannot be underestimated," he added.

Many people consider insurance when they are in their 40s or after starting a family and having children. Starting insurance at this age is considered too late due to high premiums.

"There are also those who are rejected by insurance companies because of health problems. Especially at that age, there are already many health problems experienced," he said.

For some people who still doubted the halalness of insurance, Widhiyo conveys that there is Sharia Insurance as a choice. Hence, they can minimize risk and avoid usury, betting, and uncertainty.

"The concept of the insurance is risk-sharing. Such as the business of helping and protecting each other from certain risks managed by sharia principles," he said.

Ultimately, the Faculty of Economics and Business UMM lecturer invited the public to see insurance as not just a financial burden. Instead, insurance is a loyal partner that provides financial support and peace of mind at crucial times.

"The youth need to realize the importance of insurance as a means of protection for the future, especially for those who are at the beginning of their career or study period," he concluded. (Put/Lai/Wil)
