The final project is one of the requirements that must be completed by students before being graduated by a university. During the process of completing the final project, students will encounter various challenges. Starting from the writing process, data collection, guidance, and examinations. In many cases, this has an impact on mental health.
A lecturer in the Psychology Department at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Nandy Agustin Syakarofath, S.Psi., M.A., said that there are many factors that can reduce mental health during the final project. However, the main factor that has the largest impact is the constant procrastination involved in the process. "It causes a lot of things that have to be done to pile up and make the burden of the final project even heavier," she added.

It's not just a matter of procrastination; bad lifestyles such as staying up late often also affect this matter. Lack of sleep can make students have difficulty concentrating. They may feel dizzy and suffer from various other health problems. It should be remembered that physical health and nutritional intake are also important. "Don't forget, if we get sick, it will be difficult to write or attend the guidance," he said.
According to Nandy, maintaining mental health in order to stay healthy or get better during the final project means avoiding procrastination. "For example, if you have difficulty writing your thesis, you should look for solutions or insights during the guidance," she explains.

In addition, she also explained the importance of a support system during the final project. Either from parents, friends, or partners. However, the most important thing that determines the success of this task is oneself. "The main thing is yourself. Do not depend too much on others, because they can only provide support such as encouragement, and the final project is a personal responsibility," she said.
Nandy advised the final-semester students to keep their spirit, focus, and always remember the purpose of studying. Students should not be preoccupied with things outside the main task.
"Maintaining mental health during the final semester is like maintaining physical health. It always needs to be done, and there is no need to wait for a certain time," she concluded. (*/put)
