As well as physical health, mental health also has a crucial role to play. Nowadays, many people think that the Minelial and Z generations are fragile and vulnerable to mental disorders. Seeing this phenomenon, Alfiah Nabilah Masturah, S.Psi., M.A., as a UMM psychology lecturer, spoke up.
"Living in the midst of the modern era is full of challenges, but we cannot immediately judge that the millennial generation and generation Z are weak," said Alifah.

According to her, each generation has its difficulties in managing their lives. For millennials and Gen Z, living with rapid technological developments is one of the challenges. They are often faced with a life that seems real, even though it is only a virtual world. Everyone is busy uploading their achievements and success stories on social media. They often find themselves comparing their lives with others without realizing it. It even makes them feel insecure.
Furthermore, Alifah explained that, from a psychological point of view, this condition would be very dangerous. It is possible to disrupt mental health. "Mental health is closely related to wellbeing, the derivatives of which are acceptance, gratitude, and sincerity," she said.

Therefore, the most important thing in mental health, according to Alifah, is to understand yourself. Understand that in the world, there are some things that cannot be controlled. It is also important to realize that every individual can set limits on anything. In order to maintain mental health, a person has a right to stop and be indifferent to things that interfere with their life goals.
Alifah also reminded us that mental health is the key to a happy life. Accepting ourselves, controlling our emotions, living in a positive environment, being wise with social media and not comparing our lives with others are 'skills' one must master. "If you feel mentally fragile and feel like you're being overly stressed, try to take a break from social media," she added.
Social media break is a psychological therapy proven to restore a person's spirit and strength. Social media breaks are a real effort to maintain mental health in the midst of technological advancement. "By taking a break from social media, we will get used to being more grateful for what we have, have time for self-reflection, focus on the people around us that we love, and not comparing our lives with others," she concluded.
