Universities in Indonesia must be adaptive to welcome the golden generation in 2045 and be attractive in the learning process. Must provide guarantees of graduation and employment to students. It was conveyed by the Chancellor of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., when he was one of the speakers on the talk show Markplus Institute Goes to Campus. The agenda was held online via Zoom and Youtube on Saturday (14/5).
In responding to this challenge, Fauzan explained that UMM had made a concrete innovation called the Center of Excellence (CoE) in each study program (Prodi) belonging to the White Campus. It has also formed an excellent class with high potential in various jobs.
"In this class, we have collaborated with the business world and the industrial world (DUDI) so that students better understand how professionals work. We formed two classes, namely the entrepreneurship class and the professional class, which will be recruited directly by the company," explained the Chancellor from Kediri.
Furthermore, besides providing job guarantees to students, CoE is also helpful for giving superior Human Resources (HR) who can immediately work professionally in the company. Interestingly, the White Campus program is not only intended for students of one study program or UMM but also students of other study programs and even other campuses.
"We accommodate the interest of all students in the CoE fields that we have developed. Through this CoE, I want to project UMM as a driver of change and as a leader of change, especially in the world of education in Indonesia," said Fauzan.
He revealed that the final project at UMM had been done in various schemes. With so many schemes choices, students can work on the final project according to their respective interests and talents. "In addition, we also allow students to do their final assignments from an early age, namely in the second and fourth semesters," he concluded.
Besides Fauzan, the Rector of the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, and the Executive Director of iTrain Asia Pte Ltd Dato' Eric Ku also shared their ideas. On the other hand, the Founder and Chairman of MarkPlus.Ink, Hermawan Kartajaya, said that universities in Indonesia must make the latest innovations. Mainly to welcome and pursue 2030 as a bridge to 2045. If Indonesia fails in 2030, it won't be easy to build superior human resources in 2045.
"During a pandemic like this, we will die if we don't use it well. To deal with this, universities must have eight main elements: creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, productivity, professionalism, and management. The most important thing is that we must be adaptive and attractive to be able to form gene Z as excellent human resources," he concluded. (cdr/syi/wil)
