The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting inclusivity in the academic environment. One of the initiatives includes holding a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as part of the activities leading to the establishment of the Disability Services Institution (LLD). The event was held on September 4 and was attended by dozens of secretaries and heads of departments from various programs at UMM.
The FGD featured two main speakers, psychologist Siti Suminarti Fasikhah and Ni'matuzahroh. They discussed the importance of creating an inclusive and accommodating campus environment for students with special needs. During the discussion session, Siti Suminarti Fasikhah emphasized that inclusivity is not just a label, but an ongoing effort that must be realized through policies, facilities, and comprehensive support for the entire academic community.

Meanwhile, Ni'matuzahroh, the second speaker, noted that UMM has long opened opportunities for students with special needs and diverse characteristics, including physical, cognitive, social, and emotional barriers. "Efforts to modify learning processes and assessments have already been made. However, with the establishment of LLD, it is hoped that this commitment will be further strengthened and integrated," she asserted..
UMM has consistently shown its dedication to the principle of education for all. Through this FGD, various study programs at UMM are expected to better understand and enhance their capacity to support students with special needs, creating a fair and equal learning environment.
The establishment of LLD at UMM is a strategic step to unify various efforts that have been carried out separately into a structured and directed institution. LLD will function as a coordination and development center for services for students with special needs, as well as provide training for educators and staff in handling special needs within the campus environment..
