Pharmacy Laboratory

The integration between theory and practice of the subjects in Pharmacy Study Program becomes an inseperable unity. Pharmacy Laboratry is designed to support theory so that students can obtain experience and practical skill. Later, the experience and skill will become provision in practicing pharmacy; in clinical, industial, and natural material industry pharmacies.

In the Pharmacy Laboratory there are:

1.        PRESCRIPTION LABORATORY “EDUCATION PHARMACY”

The laboratory is designed as a drugstore which enables students to have a complete simulation on all the activities in the drugstore, including the place for patient who wants to consult with the pharmacist. The simulation is held on Prescription Practicuum III. The Prescription Laboratory is basic formulation of pharmaceutical laboratories. The laboratori also is used to mix solid pharmaceutical drugs (including pill and suppository), semisolid form, and liquid form of pharmacy scale in Prescription Practicuum I and II.

2.        INTEGRATED CHEMISTRY LABORATORY II

Integrated Chemistry Laboratory II provides analysis tools and instruments such as spectrophotometry ultraviolet-visibel, rotavapor, pH meter, potentiometer, oven, furnace, melting point app., ekstractor, analytical balance, etc. The Integrated Chemistry Laboratory II is also equipped with facilities both chemical materials and glassware. The laboratory is used for various student practicum such as Anaysis Chemistry, Analysis Pharmacy Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Pharmacokinetic, and Phytochemistry. The Integrated Chemistry Laboratiry II also opens opportunity for students or lecturers outside Pharmacy to conduct practicum or research both from inside or outside UMM.

3.        PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATION LABORATORY

The laboratory is one of special laboratories of Pharmacy. It is a miniature of pharmaceutical industry so that students can practice making pharmaceutical formulas until testing phase so that the formulas to be ready to be released to the market. The practicums include Solid Pharmaceutical Practicum, Liquid Pharmaceutical Practicum, and Traditional Pharmaceutical Practicum. In addition, the facilities are starting from tools for reducing size of medicine raw materials and additional meterials, mixing equipments, drying equipment, and tablet printing machine. Besides, there are also tools for evaluating pharmaceutical formulas such as tools for testing the hardness of a tablet, the fragility of tablet, disintegration, and dissolution so that the pharmaceutical formulas are able to meet the requirements stipulated by Indonesian Pharmacopoeia.

4.     STERILE PHARMACEUTICAL LABORATORY

The laboratory is only used for making sterile products such as intravenous, injections in vials and ampoules, and other sterile formulas such as eye drops and eye ointment. The laboratory is designed based in accordance with the rules of sterile pharmaceutical industry which is based on the level of sterility it consists of class IV to I. The practicum held in this laboratory is Sterile Pharmaceutical Practicum.

5.     PHARMACOGNOSY LABORATORY

The laboratory provides adequate facilities such as the number of microscope is based on the number of student in a practicum subject. The laboratory is used to train students in analysing traditional medicines microscopically. The laboratory is aslo  used for Anatomy and Physiology Practicums and Pharmacognosy Practicum.
