A Center of Study for Woman and Society (PSWK)
A Potency of multi-dimentional woman role is a main focus in this study. The running activity that is done by the Center of Study for Woman and Society (PSWK) is prioritized on:
a. Woman discussion on gender perspective
b. Woman social role on religious culture perspective
c. Some problems related to a divorce, career woman, woman exploitation, woman and children's problem, abortion, and pregnancy.
To develop the programs, it must be run base on Tri Dharma of Higher Education (education, research, and community service). In adiition, the paradigm used is GAD (Gender and Development). Educational application integrates gender issue into relevant courses around faculty in UMM. The research activity is intended to deepen some problems faced by women in whole levels that is related to their social role in society. A Community Service Board concentrates on a training as an attempt to bring community's sense toward development planning. Besides, it also intended that community will be aware of the importance of developing collaboration between man and woman. Other than the training, the activity is also supported by some activities of woman empowernment in a village. It is focused on economy by an illumination, development, and even supervision.
In its activity operation, PSWK had run the collaboration with the government through Regional Government Level I of East Java, Regional Government Level II in the District of Jombang, Magetan, Ngawi, Ponorogo, Bangkalan, and Blitar. Besides, there are also collaboration with woman LSM and PSW around East Java. To prop up an institutional existence, PSW publishes a bulletin of “Suara Wanita”. It is used as media of communication between PSW around Indonesia, university, and related institution with the program of Woman Role Imrovement (P2W).
