Physics Laboratory

Physical Science is the basis of exact science disciplines which is based on experiments so that the relationship between theory and practice very closely related.

The goals of physics practicum are:

a. As an illustration of the principles theory,

b. As forming the scientific attitude,

c. As skills development, developing student in order to be skilled at operating some tools, conducting experiments, and doing physics measurement.

d. To gain practical experience in physics as the basis for conducting research in accordance with student’s scientific background.

Physics Laboratory functions are as:

a. Venue for physics lab,

b. Venue for research, either research students or research lecturer,

c. Means of public services; for public outside the university itself not only for education but also for quality test, and so forth.

The equipment of UMM Physics Laboratory has an orientation on practicum service and basoc research. However, it still needs some repairs and development along with the future demand. Those equipment involve; relative humidity, thermocouple, specific solid heat, ice melting heat, Ohm Law, Weatstone bridge, electrolyses, oscilloscope, electricity heat, resonant sound, thin lenses, synthetics enlightenment, laser diffraction, refract meter, gravity acceleration, modulus of rigidity, the viscosity of the liquid, the constant spring stiffness, surface tension, friction, etc. for many items, the tool cannot be mentioned wholly.

Utilization of laboratory services is still limited for student research, either for general research or even for the need of final project and lecturer research.
