Nursing Laboratory

It is an integrated laboratory for student to have practicum which give a description on hospital image so that it can accessed by Nursing and Medical students even other disciplines.

1.        Vision

Becoming the center of activities in performing Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi for all the academic community particularly for S1 and D3 of Nursing, Faculty of Health Science, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang.

3.      Purrposes and Objectives

The Nursing Laboratory is used for:

a.     Developing nursing skill

b.     Becoming learning media before practicing (hospital/Puskesmas/communty)

c.     Becoming site for discussion, studying problems or nursing topics to develop professional nursing model

d.     Improving skill in analysing nursing problem related to providing nursing care

e.     Improving skill in solving various nursing problems

f.      Preparing graduates who have competence in nursing

g.     Preparing graduates who are able to copmete in global world

Functions of the Nursing Laboratory:

a.     Helping to accelerate teaching-learning process of nursing practicum

b.    Helping sudents/lecturers to learn independently in improving nursing skill

c.     Providing opportunity to the students to be assistant in order to have regenaration based on the specification field of study

d.     As mini hospital which provides real picture to the students about activities, atmosphere, and routines in a hospital

1.     Practicum subject of Basic Human Needs ( KDM )

a.   Skill on meeting the basic human needs; Oxygenation, liquid and electrolit, nutrition, elimination, personal hygiene, taking a rest – sleeping, mobilization, comfort and safety, sterilization and desinfection, medication, spiritual and psycho-social needs and care of dying.

b.   Skill on physical examination/assessment; sight, hearing, smell, digestion, cardiovascular, respiratory, integument, musculoskeletal, endocrine and vital signs.

10.    Facilities and Infrastructure of Nursing Laboratory:

a.     Representative demo room, laboratory of basic nursing and medical surgery; children care laboratory which consists of Examination Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit , Inpatient Unit for Children and Play Room; Maternity Laboratory which consists of Pre-Natal Unit, Intra-Natal Unit, and Post-Natal Unit, Lactation Corner, Mental Care Laboratory, Community Nursing Laboratory, Child Development Nursing Laboratory.

b. There are various supporting tools for practicum activities in each laboratory including model/simulation/phantom tools which can be used for direct application as in real condition such as: Cardiac-lungs phantom, pregnancy and childbirth phantom, cardiac-lungs resusitation phantom, catheter installation phantom, NGT, infusion, etc.

c. Various physical examination supporting tools both manual and electric one such as: electrocardiography, ophtalmoscope, otoscope, tonometry, etc.

d.   Various supporting tools of learning need visually: various CD on nursing skills, etc.
